Denver in 2008

Denver is making a bid to host WorldCon in 2008, so follow the link above and check out what they're offering, and while you're at it, become a pre-supporting member, because let's face it, Denver would be a much better choice than Chicago or Columbus.

I may drive down to Philly and stop at Philcon this weekend. It's about 2 hours 20 minutes from here. I've never been to a con so if Friday's snow storm is not that bad, I'll try it.
If I see the table I'll sign the petition for Denver.
I might not make it, though. $35 admission seems excessive. I only want to wander around for an hour or so.
The convention center is right next to Reading Terminal, a big farmers market where I will probably have lunch.
I was going to Philly anyway because I like to do some of my Christmas shopping down on South Street.
I'll buy a few cheese steaks to go at Jim's and auction them off to the poker guys when I get back. Nothing like real Philly cheese steak. The rest of the world has no idea!

CONS are a great time. I'm hoping to do four or five of them next year, but they probably aren't worth it if you only have a couple of hours, unless you can get your hands on a schedule ahead of time, and arrange to go to the panels you really want to see.

I've been to Philly twice...once when I was really young (no cheese steak on that trip), and the second time was for my brother's first wedding. I was a vegetarian at the time, so no cheese steak then, either. I'm sure they're a hell of a lot better than the crap we serve at Subway...
